Travelling Tips for your Suitcase

We all try to pack as light as we can when going on holidays, but the chances of it actually happening are very slim. From going on holidays so much i have picked up a few tricks on how to keep everything tidy and easy to pack away instead of everything thrown into your suitcase.

TIP NO.1: ROLL NOT FOLD

This is a very handy tip when coming to packing, especially summer clothes. Folding really does take up so much room instead fold and roll them so they are more compact. You wont actually even believe how much more room you have freed up. It also is a good way to try keep your clothes as wrinkle free as possible. As they are rolled up there is not as much folds and wrinkles in this way compared to just folding them.

TIP NO.2 CLING FILM BOTTLE TOPS

If your like me who brings there own special shampoos/conditioners etc, there is always the caution of them leaking everywhere. My tip i have found is to wrap cling film around the top of it in which prevents leaks and on top of that keep all liquids in a plastic bag so there is that extra precaution.

TIP NO.3 SUNGLASSES BAG FOR HAIR CLIPS & HAIR BANDS

Typical girl problem. Loosing hair clips everywhere, I myself always just threw the hair clips and head bands into the suitcase and hoping for the best. I always ended up losing most of them. I found that i never used the sunglasses pouch that you usually get with buying sunglasses, so instead of throwing it away i put my hair clips and hair bands in it. Put it in the zippy part of the suitcase and taaadaa. Never lost another hair clip and hair band after this. I know a few people also use Tictac boxes for hair clips so another thing you could use if you wanted.

TIP NO.4 DRY CLEANING BAGS FOR CLOTHES THAT WRINKLE EASILY

We all have them clothes that even if you touch them they wrinkle. For these clothes i place them in the bags and fold neatly on top of my suitcase. They usually don’t wrinkle as much when put in the bag. As soon as you get to your destination unpack and hang up as soon as so you cant ruin it looking around your bag for other things.

TIP NO.5 PACK SOCKS IN YOUR SHOES

Yes some people may think this is going to make the socks smell but it really doesn’t. It means they are packed away and more room for other stuff. It also keeps the shape of your shoes, that they are squashed.

TIP NO.6 ALWAYS PACK PLASTIC BAGS

I always feel that they are useful no matter what. For example on a recent trip to Bali my shoes were soo dirty and muddy i couldn’t even put them near my clothes they would have been ruined so i put them in a plastic bag and they didn’t ruin anything. Plastic bags are also good to have for if you have a late flight and want to enjoy the pool before you leave, use the plastic bag for your wet swimming gear.

I also use plastic bags for washing. I put my dirty clothes in the plastic bags so i know what clothes are dirty and which are clean.

TIP NO.7 WEAR YOUR HEAVY CLOTHES WHEN TRAVELLING

Even if you are in a hot country to make your bag light as possible wear your heavy clothes when travelling, you can even hold them. I always wear my trainers and trousers jumpers and coat travelling to where ever i’m going, it means your suitcase is lighter and also if the plane is freezing you are prepared for it.

TIP NO.8 DONT JUST THROW YOUR LEADS/PLUGS IN

We all know how easy it is to go through a charger so why make it more easier to break by just throwing it into your bag. I always put my electronic stuff into a different bag in the suitcase, just incase of leakages etc. When putting them in i separate all the plugs and nearly roll up the cables etc so they are compact and neat. Use Hair bands to keep the cables neat.

TIP NO.9 NECKLACES ON STRAWS

I always have the absolute handling of spending hours of trying to untangle necklaces. I found a tip of putting your necklaces through a straw to keep them separated. Keep the dangly part of the necklace on the outside of the straw and clip the necklace together through the straw. I actually use this tip not only when travelling but at home as well. I just have a jewellery box at home and i have now used the straw method to stop them from getting tangled.

TIP NO.10 USE A BINDER CLIP FOR RAZORS

Have spare binder clips around the house? Use them for razors if you don’t already have a cover for your razors. If your like me and just throws your razor into your make up bag and always cuts yourself with the razor when looking around for something in the make up bag this is a handy tip. Open the binder clip and put it over the razor head then just close it. Saves yourself hassle of cutting yourself!

TIP NO.11 ALWAYS PACK A PEN AND NOTEBOOK

We always rely on our phones but i always carry a pen and notebook with details of all our stops and stays just incase something happens our phones. I find this is always such a useful thing to carry. Just an extra precaution.

TIP NO.11 ALWAYS CHECK WHAT THE COUNTRY ALLOWS TO BE BROUGHT INTO THAT CERTAIN COUNTRY

I always check if countries i’m travelling to have any items banned from being brough into the country. Yes this might seem silly but some countries are very strict in what can or cant be brought into the country. For example in Singapore, E- Cigarettes are banned.  You don’t want a fine on before you even leave the airport.
